Vivian Davis, age 83, of Vandalia Missouri, passed away on July 19, 2024, at the Baptist Home of Tri-County.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Watson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
A visitation celebrating Vivian's life will be held at 10:00 am, until the time of service.
Vivian was born on January 22, 1941 in St. Louis Missouri, the daughter of Howard Eugene Smith and Mary Virginia (Childs) Smith. Later moved to Vandalia Missouri where she was raised and graduated from Vandalia High School. She married James E. Davis on June 8, 1958. He precedes her in death on November 9, 2005.
Survivors include three children, Robert Eugene Davis, James Eric Davis and Crystal Leann Hull & husband James Richard Hull, all of Vandalia Missouri. Three grandchildren, Tyson Eugene Hull and wife Mari Hull, Trey Dalton Hull & Anthony Wayne Ruby, all of Vandalia Missouri. Brother Ronald Wayne Smith of Tipton Missouri, step sisters, Sonja D'Anneo and husband Bill of San Diego California, Sheri Watne and husband Scott of Bartlesville Oklahoma. Six great grand children, many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her father, Howard E. Smith, step-mother, Margaret Ruth Smith, brother, Howard Andrew Smith, brother, Donald Eugene Smith, step-sister, Jaqueline Branstetter, and mother and step-father, Mary Virginia and Edward J. Simons.
Vivian worked for Western Printing and Lithograph (1959) in Hannibal Missouri and the International Shoe Factory until they closed, several different Garment Companies, Harbison Walker Refractories Texgas corp as a secretary/ bookkeeper for 10 years, Audrain Medical Center as a Phlebotomist.
Vivian was a past member of the Jayceette's, Order of Eastern Star, Brownie Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2173, member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1955 where she served as Deacon and received the Evelyn Bedell award in 2010.
Vivian was known as a jack-of all--trades and liked to stay busy. She enjoyed helping with her church, working on her yard, gardening, cooking, serving her children and most of all, adored her grand children and great grand children.
