Virginia Mae Walker

March 6, 1946 — January 27, 2023

Virginia Mae Walker, age 76, of Curryville, MO passed away at 10:32 am Friday, January 27, 2023, In Bowling Green Missouri.  

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Glenn Forman will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Vandalia Missouri. 

 

Visitation celebrating Virginia Mae Walker will be held at 9:00 am until 11:00 am Wednesday February 1, 2023 at Waters Funeral Home. 

 

Virginia was born on March 6, 1946, in Mexico, Missouri the daughter of Robert and Esther Fisher of Vandalia.

Survivors include; her daughter, Karen and her favorite son-n-law Jim Harrower of Curryville, MO; Grandchildren, Jinnifer (Matthew) Hagan of Mexico and Kayelee (Chad) Branstetter of Perry; Great Grandchildren, Stetson and Graynger Hagan. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul; Son, Billy Walker; Daughter, Stacey Lee and best friend, Arlene Runyon and her favorite 4 legged friend Maggie Mae.

 

Virginia graduated from Van Far and went on to further her education in Hannibal, where she received her nursing degree in 1972.

 

Professionally, Virginia worked as the Administrator for Countryside Manor which she also proudly owned and operated for 35 years. 

 

Virginia was very close with her family, she especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandsons and her great-granddogs. She was also an avid bear collector, so much so that she had a live black bear for several years that local schools would visit. She had a great love for animals, and was known for her wild choice of pets from the black bear to reas, to pot belly pigs, rabbits, pheasants, and a fallow deer. She also enjoyed spending time watching her family participate in horse shows, especially her daughter. She loved nothing more than to watch her daughter ride horses and barrel race in the arena in her backyard. 

 

Virginia was a member of W.O.M. Women of missionaries affiliated with the Elm Grove Baptist Church, The REBECCAS and the Missouri League of Nursing Home Administrators. 

 

Pallbearers are Jerry Dixon, Billy Picton, Robbert Sherman, Kyle Dixon, Paul Feldman, Mark Stokes and Dennis Noel. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Shane Ellis, Terry Vaughn, Dalton Walker, Chad Branstetter, Matt Hagan, Stetson Hagan and Graynger Hagan. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to The Little Dixie Shrine Club in Mexico Mo, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
