Virgil Meredith Shuck passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Westview Nursing Home in Center, Missouri. Virgil attended school at Brush Creek and Piddletown country schools. His brothers gave him the nickname "Spud" because of his love for mashed potatoes. In 1948 he moved to his farm south of Perry where he raised row crops and pigs until his retirement.

Born: January 1, 1925 in Huntington, Missouri the son of Clarence and Elsie (Hall) Shuck.

Married: Regina Ellen Crowe on September 25, 1949 in Hannibal; she preceded him in death on May 1, 1997.

Survivors include: two sons, Dean Shuck of Perry; Donald "Buddy" and wife, Jeanne Shuck of Perry; two daughters: Donna and husband, Robert Slaughter of Laddonia; Emma and husband, Robert Mirelez of Madera, California; six grandchildren: Christopher Shuck of Hannibal; Sarah Shuck of Hull, Illinois; Mason Shuck of Vandalia; Jeremy Shuck of Perry; Julia Shuck of Columbia and Rudy Mirelez of Madera, California; also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Mamie Wisehart; four brothers: Lewis Shuck, Lloyd Shuck, Hubert Shuck and Wallace Shuck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Westview Nursing Home in Center, Missouri for patient activities or to the donor's choice.
