Viola F. (Pease) Maskey passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Golden Living Center - Pin Oaks Nursing Home in Mexico, Missouri. She was a life-long rural Wellsville area resident and attended Pleasant Plains School. Viola has been a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church since 1928 and had served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker on the family farm and during her lifetime, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible school; visiting and helping family and friends; gardening, especially flowers. In the winter months, Viola would quilt, embroidery and work puzzles.spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Born: February 20, 1916 in rural Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of Ira Leland and Mabel Isabelle Tallmadge (Kelly) Pease.
Married: John Russell Maskey on December 12, 1936 in Mexico, Missouri; he preceded her in death on May 5, 2004.
Survivors include: one son, Russell L. Maskey and Carol Natividad of Charleston, South Carolina; one daughter: Shirley M. Bradley of Mexico; one brother, Wayne and wife, Doris Pease of Vandalia; three sisters: Dorothy M. Emo of Freeport, Illinois; Sue M. and husband, Earl Wayne Henderson of Vandalia; Leota Craghead of Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren: foster grandson, Dickie L. and wife, Lynda Austin of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Kyle J. and wife, Charlotte Bradley of Kansas City; three great-grandchildren: David and Ashley Austin, Mackenzie Bradley.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, John; four brothers: Tallmadge Pease, Clifford Pease, Leroy Pease and Melvin Pease; three sisters: Julia Mae Pease, Evelyn Grover and Mildred Morris.
Memorials are encouraged to Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church or to the Fairmount Cemetery Association, Middletown, Missouri.
