Friday, June 30, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 214 N. Jefferson Street in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Jarvis.
Music provided by: Sharon Hoehn - pianist; Ruth Calcaterra - soloist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Don Moran, Gary Fowler, Brandon Fischer, Steve Fischer, John Fischer and Ray Werner; honorary pallbearers: George Pease, Dolly Leo Salmon, Charles Holman, Vernon Terry and Earl Wayne Henderson.
"Tommy" L. Kinkade passed away at 1:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. Tommy attended local schools and some junior college. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Africa and Italy. After returning back from the Army, he worked for a few years at the Temple Stephens grocery store and then was co-owner and helped start the Rebylarch Cafe in Vandalia. He then operated a Gulf service station in Vandalia for approximately four years before starting with the U. S. Postal Service. Tommy started as a clerk, then a carrier, then assistant postmaster for many years and finally as the Vandalia Postmaster for several years before retiring in 1980. Tommy was with the postal service for over 25 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia, where he had served as a deacon. He was also active in the softball league years ago and helped to start a coin collectors club in Vandalia. Tommy was an avid coin collector, he enjoyed fishing and was a life member of Vandalia VFW Post 2173.
Born: March 5, 1922 in Bevier, Missouri the son of Delbert Lee and Lily Mae (Reffitt) Kinkade.
Married: Beryl Maxine Koestner in Moberly, Missouri on March 1, 1942; she survives at the home.
Survivors include: wife, Beryl of Vandalia; one son, Kevin E. and wife, Elaine Kinkade of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Serena Kinkade of Columbia; Brandon Fischer of Fulton; John Fischer of Kingdom City and Steve Fischer of Ft. Riley, Kansas; four great-grandchildren: Eveanna Kinkade, Nicholas Fischer, Nakayla Fischer and Christopher Fischer; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: four brothers, John Kinkade, George Kinkade, Boyd Kinkade and Frederick Kinkade; three sisters, Ruby Cooley, Pearl Hudson and Anna Prewitt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the First Presbyterian Church, P O Box 249, Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
