Sandra Chandler, age 80, of Vandalia Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Waters Funeral Home.  Bro. Kenny Haddock will Officiate.  Burial will follow at the Vandalia Cemetery.

A visitation celebrating Sandra's life will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Waters Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be; Dana Camden, Randy Camden, Clint Chandler, Brian Cicero, Bobby Johnson and Larry Anderson. 

Sandra ("Sandy") Lee Chandler was born in Mexico, Missouri on October 19,1943 to Robert ("Bob") Walker Leist and Eva Blanche Naysmith Leist. In May, 1962 Sandy married James ("Jack") Elzea. Together they had two daughters Dena Elzea Cicero along with her husband Mark of in Lewisville, TX and Dana Elzea Camden along with her husband Randy of St. Louis, Missouri who survive. In October 1975 Sandy married Robert (Bob) Chandler and gained four stepsons, who she loved as her own, Bob Chandler of St. Louis, Missouri, Chuck Chandler of Holliday, Missouri and Clint Chandler of Holliday Missouri who all survive and Carl Chandler who preceded her in death. Sandy is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian Cicero along with his wife Rachel of Flower Mound, Texas and Erica Jackson along with her husband Brian of Winfield, Indiana. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren Blake, Conner, Lucy, Barrett and Robbie as well as step granddaughters Hope and Lainie Chandler.

Sandy was preceded in in death by her parents and her sister, Donna Bingham.

After leaving Vandalia, Sandy lived in North Miami Beach Florida, Holliday Missouri, Frisco, Texas and Shelbina, Missouri. While in Texas Sandy worked at various jobs and did extensive volunteer work with Fire and Police Departments, work she was passionate about.

Upon Sandy's return from Texas to Missouri she was employed by Northeast Community Action Center (NECAC) where she assisted families with low-income housing. During this time she was also a parent educator working to keep families together or to help parents regain custody of their children.

After Sandy's retirement she settled back in her hometown of Vandalia. During these years she traveled, along with her daughters, to Washington DC, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Memphis, Los Angeles, and a cruise to Mexico. Sandy moved to King's Daughters in Mexico, Missouri in May of 2022.
