Ruth Loverta (Perkins) Day passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. She had been a Farber resident since 1961 and a long-time member of the Farber Baptist Church. Ruth was very active in church as she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and worked on the hospitality committee. She also enjoyed listening to music, needlework, crochet, sewing and most all crafts.
Born: August 16, 1934 in Columbia, Missouri the daughter of Vincell Everett and Mary Elizabeth (Barnes) Perkins.
Married: James V. Day on October 21, 1950 in Columbia, Missouri; he survives at the home.
Survivors include: husband, James of Farber; three sons: David and wife, Nancy Day of Columbia; Darren and wife, Michelle Day of Columbia and Danny and wife, Becky Day of Columbia; five daughters: Doris and husband, Floyd Britton of Farber; Donna Bise of Farber; Susie Finley of Farber, Mary Ann and husband, Dan Bailey of Farber; Carol and husband, Larry Peacock of Mexico, Missouri; 24 grandchildren: Dana Wallace; Lorrie and husband, Jamie Heaton of rural Vandalia; Richard Cheney of St. Louis; Lisa Long of Farber; Marcella and husband, David Feagans of Columbia; Angelica Evans of Vandalia; Larry Finley of Columbia; Brian Stone, Steven Stone and Timothy Stone all of Mexico; Christina Stone of Vandalia; Jamie Day Jr., Jason Day and Joseph Day all of Mexico; Amanda and husband, Chris Hostetler of Columbia; Jared and wife, Amanda Day of Columbia; Samantha and husband, Chris Wilson of Mexico; Beth Day, Justin Peacock and Sammy Peacock all of Mexico; Brandon Day and Ashley Day both of Columbia; Megan Day of O'Fallon, Missouri; Shaun and wife, Ami Hayse of Columbia; also survived by 26 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents; one son: Jamie E. Day; one brother: Mancel Perkins; one half-brother, Willis Perkins; three half-sisters, Anna Mae Kintner, Hazel Smith and Hannah Sexton; one grandson, James Russell "Rusty" Cheney.
Memorials are encouraged to the Farber Baptist Church.
