Roy Edward Toppings, Jr.

Roy Edward Toppings, Jr., age 57, of Bowling Green, MO passed away at 4:40 pm Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, MO.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 14, 2020 at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia, MO. Pastor Gene Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green, MO following the service.

A visitation celebrating the life of Roy Edward Toppings, Jr. will be held at 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday December 13, 2020 at the Waters Funeral Home.

Roy was born on February 13, 1963, in Bonne Terre, Missouri the son of Roy and Martha (Jefferies) Toppings.

He was united in marriage to Sherry Donaldson on July 17, 1999 in Vandalia, MO. She survives him of the home.

Other survivors included daughter, Tabitha Witherington of Bowling Green, MO; three sons, Matthew Donaldson (A.J.), Shannon "Coty" Donaldson and Branden Donaldson all of Bowling Green, MO; three granddaughters, Alana Williams, Elyzabeth Icke and Autumn Donaldson; two grandsons, Jacob Gray and Chris Icke; two brothers, Jimmy Toppings (April) of Dupo, IL and Frank Toppings of Vandalia, MO; one niece, numerous nephews and many other loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Roy graduated from Dupo, IL high school class of 1983 and worked as a corrections officer for the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green.

Roy was a member of  New Life Tabernacle and had an unexplainable passion for his church and family. He was devoted to praying for the needs of people and committed to focusing on his relationship with God. Roy loved his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends beyond understanding and found nothing more enjoyable then spending time with them especially holidays. He was a practical joker and always making people laugh. When he wasn't spending time with his family or at church he enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Donaldson, Branden Donaldson, Shannon Donaldson, Jimmy Toppings, Michael Toppings, Jacob Gray and Chris Icke.

Honorary pallbearer is Frank Toppings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Waters Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
