Service:

Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, Vandalia, Missouri.

Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.

Rosa N. Smith, age 84 died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 at the West View Nursing Home in Center. She had been an installment loan officer at Centerre Bank of Florissant for 28 years before retiring in 1984 and moving back to Vandalia.

A member of the First Baptist Church, Vandalia, she was active in several banking organizations such as the St. Louis Chapter of the National Association of Bank Women; the Bankers Installment Credit Association of Greater St. Louis; the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Florissant and Soroptimist International of North St. Louis County. After moving back to Vandalia, she was active with the Vandalia D. A. R. chapter and helped her daughter Kathy at the Short Stop and Grocery Depot. She enjoyed reading, crochet, knitting and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan.

She was valedictorian of the 1939 class of Vandalia High School and attended one year at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Born: August 5, 1921 in rural Vandalia, Missouri to Jefferson H. & Fanny M. (Inlow) Wright.


Married: Frederick E. Smith on June 16, 1941 in St. Louis; he preceded her in death on May 17, 1981.


Survivors include: one daughter: Kathy Hunn of Vandalia; one grandson: Robert J. and wife, Marlo Hunn of Vandalia; two granddaughters: Katlyn Rose Hunn and Abigail Grace Hunn of Vandalia; three sisters-in-law: LoAnna Wright of Vandalia; Betty Richter of Ohio and Kathleen Pontrelli of California; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: two brothers: Harve Wright and Jack Wright.
