Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service held at 4:00 p.m..
Service:

January 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vandalia.
Officiating will be: Father Paul Hartley and Rev. Joel Montgomery.
Music provided by: church members.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jim Jones, Steve Deppe, Beverlia Orf, Jason Deppe, Larry Nation and Marty Nation. Honorary pallbearers: Raymond Abington, Bob Dunn and Lorin Lamberson.

Robert James "Bob" Deppe passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Bob grew up and has lived most of his life in Vandalia. He attended Vandalia schools and was a part of Vandalia High School class of 1949. Bob started to work at the Kroger store in Vandalia while he was in school. After high school, he ran the family's grocery store located near the brick plant until joining the U. S. Navy in 1951. Bob served his country for two years in the Navy and upon his return to Vandalia was the manager at J & M Market from 1953 until 1961. He went back to work at the Kroger store in town and worked there for over 30 years, retiring iin 1993. Bob was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a life member of Vandalia VFW Post 2173. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his scooter around town and visiting with friends in the coffee shops. Bob and Delores enjoyed their Branson vacations and different bus tours.

Born: January 27, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Clarence E. and Marie (Mulroy) Deppe Sr..

Married: Delores F. Kisor in Jennings, Missouri on June 18, 1955.

Survivors include: wife, Delores of Vandalia; two sons: Jim and wife, Becky Deppe and Gary Deppe all of Vandalia; one grandson, Jason Deppe of Tecumseh, Nebraska; nieces and nephew.

Preceded in death by: parents; one son, Michael in 1975; two brothers, Clarence Deppe Jr. and Eddie Deppe.

Memorials are encouraged to Michael Deppe Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of First State Community Bank in Vandalia.
