Interment will be in the Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene, Missouri.
Pallbearers: Douglas Robert Belshe, Daniel Belshe, Marcus Ortan Belshe, Donald Hoover, Don Bowman and David Belshe. Honorary pallbearers: Kody Belshe, Jason Kaiser and Robert Bland.
Robert Ortan Belshe passed away at 7:51 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 with his family at his side near Henley, Missouri. He attended schools in Eugene, LaMonte and Knob Noster, Missouri and graduated from Trigg County High School in Cadiz, Kentucky in 1939. He moved from Bell City, Missouri to Vandalia in 1941 and was employed by Harbison Walker Refractories as a pattern maker for over 46 years until his retirement in 1987. Bob was a skilled woodworker, gunsmith and machinist. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia and a 32nd degree Mason. Bob was a member of the Vandalia Masonic Lodge #491 and a member of the Moolah Temple of the Scottish Rite.
Born: October 7, 1922 near Henley, Missouri the son of Olin Ortan and Alpha Ellen (Long) Belshe.
Married: Dorothy Sue Branstetter on September 4, 1945 in Vandalia; she survives at their home near Henley.
Survivors include: wife, Dorothy; three sons: Kevin Dale Belshe of Henley; Curtis Lee Belshe of Vandalia; Thomas Wayne Belshe of Jefferson City, Missouri; also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; his eldest son, Jerald Robert Belshe; three brothers: Omar Belshe, Donald Belshe and Raymond Belshe; two sisters: Etha Pearl Belshe and Irene Slater.
Memorials are encouraged to the American Heart Association.
