Richard Lee Ruby

Richard Lee Ruby, 45, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 2:01 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, MO.

Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia.  Pastor Bradley Baker will officiate.

Visitation celebrating Richard’s life will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia.

Richard was born on February 19, 1974, in Mexico, MO the son of Bobby Wayne and Judy Kay (Dodd) Ruby.

Richard was united in marriage to Kelly Baker on November 21, 1997, in Mexico, MO.  She survives him of the home.

Other survivors include mother, Judy Dodd of Vandalia, MO; three sons, Austin Lee Ruby (Liz Gentry) of Vandalia, MO, Christopher Scott Ruby of St. Louis, MO, and Casey Dean Schambach of Vandalia, MO; two daughters, Samantha Nicole Ruby of Laddonia, MO and Desiree Kristine Ruby (Trenton Bishop) of Center, MO; three grandchildren, KayeLee Mariah Kristine Schambach, Collin Robert Schambach and Carter Richard Schambach; one grandchild Grayson Lee Ruby expected in January 2020; one brother, Billy Wayne Ruby (Jennifer) of Vandalia, MO; two sisters, Melissa Ann Sanchez (Wes Fuget) of Vandalia, MO and Tammy Marie Jennings (Butch) of Curryvillle, MO; father-in-law, Roger Baker (Dawnella) of Coon Rapids, IA; mother-in-law, Cathy Baker of Mexico, MO.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members.

Mr. Ruby was preceded in death by his father.

Richard was previously employed as a labor for Champion Precast.

Richard enjoyed doing woodworking in his spare time, riding his motorcycle, going to mud runs, and working on vehicles.  Richard was known for giving the shirt off his back to help family and friends in need.  Richards biggest love was his family.  He cherished the time spent with his family and his grandchildren were the light of his eyes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Ruby’s grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kelly Ruby to assist the family with expenses, in care of the Waters Funeral Home.
