Phyliss Pargeon

Phyliss Lee Pharis Pargeon, age 72, of Vandalia, passed away at 10:15 am, on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Country View Nursing Home, Bowling Green Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Waters Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at the Vandalia Cemetery.  Bro. Kenny Haddock will officiate.

A visitation celebrating her life will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13, at Waters Funeral Home.

Phyliss was born on January 21, 1952, in Southard Oklahoma; the daughter Gerold and Noma (Landt) Pharis.  She married Ralph Eugene Pargeon on May 27, 1968. He preceded her in death in 2017.

Survivors are Jeff & Carrie Pargeon of Frankford MO, Roma & Tony Lovell of Curryville MO, Errett & Pamela Pargeon of Vandalia MO, John Pargeon of Vandalia MO and Steve Pharis of Mid West City OK.  Several Grandkids & Great-Grandkids, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyliss was preceded in death by her Stepmother, Reva Dale Pharis, Stepdad Harold Tophinke,; Brother Gerold Dean Pharis and Sister, Glenda McCurdy.

Phyliss quit school and obtained her GED.  She later furthered her education and obtained her Practical Nurse license.  Her first job was at the A&W.  She helped with the MDA Telethon, the VanFar Ambulance and taught Country Line Dancing.

She worked at Audrain Medical Center on the Surgery Floor for years and then in medical records.  She also worked at the womens prison in Vandalia and several nursing homes in the area.  

Away from work, Phyliss loved putting puzzles together, playing computer games, sewing quilts.  Phyliss loved spending time with family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tony Lovell, Steven Lovell, Payton Pargeon, Davon Pargeon, Brian Lovell and Tony Lee Bryan.

Memorials are suggested to the Community Loving Care Hospice or the Country View Nursing Home.
