Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from noon until 2:00 p.m., with a Masonic service held at 1:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Service:

Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Marvin Jones.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Chuck Trabue, John Stringer, Raymond Kirtlink, Jerry Williams, Mark Rubemeyer and Terry Baker.

Oliver William Cole passed away at 4:44 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Pin Oak Nursing Center in Mexico, Missouri. Oliver attended schools in Louisiana and after school joined the U. S. Coast Guard. He served his country for over four years and after his service moved to Vandalia and started working in the maintenance department at Harbison Walker Refractories. Oliver worked at Harbison Walker for over 38 years, retiring in 1984. He joined the Vandalia Masonic Lodge #491 in 1961 and had held many positions in the lodge. Oliver enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, looking for native Indian artifacts, gardening, canning and baking. He was a long-time member of the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia.

Born: September 21, 1922 in Louisiana, Missouri the son of Claude Ray and Lottie Mae (Bethel) Cole.

Married: Mary Frances Rubemeyer on April 12, 1944 in Louisiana, Missouri; she preceded him in death on November 30, 2002.

Survivors include: one son: Gary D. Cole of New London, Missouri; one daughter: Sharon J. and husband, Wayne Blake of Mexico, Missouri; one sister: Mary K. Tredway of Louisiana, Missouri; three grandchildren: Michele Westenhaver of St. Louis; Travis Cole of Vandalia; Andrea Primus of Columbia, Missouri; four great-grandchildren: Matthew Cole, Katy Cole, Mary Primus and Maggie Primus.

Preceded in death by: wife, Mary; two sisters: Martha Davidson and Midge Helm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Southside Baptist Church, 805 W. Walsh Blvd., Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
