Norita Morris

Norita S. Douchant Morris, age 89, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 6:55 pm Monday, January 20, 2025, at The Heritage Home in Centralia, MO.

A private family memorial service will be held at Waters Funeral Home. Bro. Kenny Haddock will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in rural Vandalia, MO.

Norita was born on June 16, 1935, in Vandalia, MO the daughter of Everett and Lena (Hatfield) Wooten.

She was first united in marriage to John B. Douchant on May 27, 1951, in Vandalia, MO. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1996. She later married Donald Ray Morris. He also preceded her in death. 

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Hoyt (Larry) of Martinsburg, MO, Teresa Johnston of Martinsburg MO and Tammy Bise (Larry) of Mexico, MO, and sister-in-law, Norma Jean Galloway of Vandalia, MO.

Also surviving are Norita's grandchildren, Chad, Christina, Loren, Shawn, Jeremy, Clifton, Ongela, Brandon and Austin; great grandchildren, Skyler, Blade, Nicole, Asia, Courney, Cody, Kenneth, Isabel, Jackson, Colin, Hannah, Zachary, Tyler, Taquilla, Kaden, Brooklyn, Amelia, Hannah, and Ziva Jo; great-great grandchildren, Mayla and Nova.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers, Bill Wooten and Dickie Wooten, three sisters, Norma Lee Goodin, Reva Wooten and Mary Ann Wooten and one great-grandson, John Wilson.

Norita had a diverse and fulfilling career. She spent time working at the shoe factory, Bobbie Brooks. Elizea Egg Company and Tri County Nursing Home.

Norita was a beloved individual who cherished her time spent talking with friends and family. She was known for her strong opinions and her unwavering dedication to both her work and family. Her passion and commitment were evident in everything she did. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
