Nona Louise James

Nona James, age 84, of Vandalia Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on at 11:00 am, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Waters Funeral Home.  Pastor Brian Lehenbauer will officiate. Burial will follow at the Vandalia Cemetery.

A visitation celebrating Nona's life will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Waters Funeral Home.

Nona was born Vandalia Missouri, on March 9, 1940, the daughter of Claude “Calvin” and Velma (Bowles) Nation.

Nona graduated from Van-Far schools and later married Stanley James on November 12, 1958, where they made their home until his death in March of 2018.

Professionally, Nona worked at the Bobby Brooks garment factory and dabbled in selling Tupperware.

Nona enjoyed pretty much everything. She was a member of the CB Club years ago. She kept busy quilting, crochet, gardening, doing word searches, watching Walton’s, The Price is right and Bob Ross. Her pets were special to her, especially Miss Kitty and Susie. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandbabies and great grandbabies. She was a member of the Vandalia First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons; Alan and wife Paula James of Vandalia, Cory and wife Amber James of Bowling Green, one daughter; Anita and husband Marty Orf of Bowling Green, grandchildren; Christina Orf of Bowling Green, Justin and Callie Orf of Eolia, Jessica James of Vandalia, Nicholas and Caroline James of Vandalia, Cody James and Donni of Vandalia, great grandchildren; Kaleb Orf, Roland Orf, Mila Orf, Maddyn Orf, Riley VanBoening, Presley Marshall, Colt Holcumbrink, Noah Holcumbrink, Clinton James and Ruth James.

Nona is preceded in death by her parents and husband; Stanley James and sister; Gwendolyn Allen.

Memorial are suggested to the First Baptist Church, Vandalia Cemetery, Van-Far Ambulance or St. Jude Hospital in care of Waters Funeral Home.
