Family graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday August 24, 2012 at the Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia, Missouri.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.

Nellie Fern (Leake) Lent passed away at 3:18 a.m. on Monday August 20, 2012 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. She grew up and went to school in the Perry area and lived most of her adult life in Vandalia. Nellie worked at the garment factory in Vandalia before she married James O. Lent. She then became a full time homemaker and helped some with the Lent Auto Sales and Salvage business west of Vandalia. Nellie also picked up the Mexico Ledger newspapers and distributed them to the local carriers in Vandalia to deliver to area residents. She also sold Avon for many years, winning several sales recognition awards.

Born: November 13, 1917 in Perry, Missouri the daughter of Thomas and Lola B. (Long) Leake.

Married: James Oliver Lent on July 22, 1947 in Hannibal; he preceded her in death on December 8, 1997.

Survivors include: three daughters, Katherine Heaton of Vandalia; Louise and husband, Dennis Headington of Lititz, Pennsylvania; Penny Weise of Kansas; two sisters: Jo and husband, Bob Moss of Vandalia; Helen Griffith of Vandalia; three grandsons: Marty L. Willis, Robby J. Willis and James Lee Harvath.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, James O. Lent; seven brothers and two sisters.

Memorials are encouraged to the donor's choice.
