Officiating: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music: Gary Shaw - pianist.
Interment: the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Matthew Shotwell, Dennis Smith, Frank Bauman, Dean Larkin, Joe Roesch, and Gary Shaw.

Mary E. (Runyon) Shotwell passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Lenoir Woods in Columbia. She was a 1940 Macon High School graduate and member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia. Mary loved cooking and serving good food to her family and friends. While in Vandalia, her home became a regular place to stop for the 4 o'clock coffee hour for many of her friends. Her other loves, besides socializing, included playing tennis, bridge, golf, singing in the church choir and with her barbershop group, quilting, and restoring antiques. Mary expressed gratitude regularly for how blessed she was to have such a wonderful life.

Born: August 30, 1922 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Thomas Earl and Lottie Mae (Parsons) Runyon.

Married: William Grey "Red" Shotwell; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include: Mary leaves behind an extensive and devoted family. A daughter, Peggy Cloutier (Leo) of Columbia and son, William Craig (Ginni) Shotwell of Jackson, California; five grandchildren: Travis Cole of Hannibal; Andrea Primus and Lindsey Larkin, William Matthew Shotwell and Jessica Shotwell all of Columbia. She was able to be an active and loving part of her great-grandchildren's lives…Matthew William Gavin Cole of Columbia; Kathryn Brooke Cole of Hannibal; Mary Elizabeth and Margaret Ann Primus, both of Columbia. She was blessed by living with Andrea and her daughters, Mary and Maggie for three years prior to going to Lenoir. She leaves behind two sisters, Doris (Collier) Schulze and Yvonne Daniel both of Springfield, Missouri.

Preceded in death by: parents; her husband "Red" of 51 years and many dear friends.
