Mary I. Potter, age 77, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 9:57 am Monday, January 22, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO
Private family graveside service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, in the Vandalia Cemetery. Rev. Nathan Geesey will officiate.
The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home.
Mary was born on June 17, 1946, in Bowling Green, MO the daughter of Sherman and Mildred (McPike) Willis.
She was united in marriage to Eddie Potter on May 16, 1986.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Potter of the home; daughter, Sherri Shaw (Leon) of Vandalia, MO; sons, Troy Branstetter of Hawaii and Jeff Branstetter and wife Michelle of Moberly, MO; sister, Patricia Green; grandchildren, Brandon and wife Charity, Cassie, Alexander and Spencer; great grandchild, Crillen.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Potter was preceded in death by a son, Ricky and grandson, Lance.
Mary worked at Avery's Floor Mats in Laddonia as a machine operator and in the shipping department before her retirement.
Mary was a very talented musician. She was playing the piano at a young age and was even playing for her high school when she was in the sixth grade. Mary kept this talent up over the years and was the pianist at her church, Beacon of Hope Church in Vandalia. Away from work and church, Mary enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, family game nights and fishing with Eddie, when he would bait her hook. Mrs. Potter was also very talented in the kitchen, she was known for her homemade rolls, apple pies along with many other things. She never let Eddie's cookie jar go dry. Mary's biggest love was her family, she cherished every moment spent with them.
