Martha Rathburn Hopke

Martha Rathburn Hopke, age 84, of Vandalia Missouri passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 5:00 am, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.

She was born on February 13, 1938, in Emmitsburg Iowa the daughter of Albert Beckfield Sr. and Sofie (Griffle) Beckfield.

 Survivors include her husband, Lyndell Hopke, son, Scott Rathburn, Stepsons, Dale Hopke, David Hopke, Danny Hopke, Dewayne Hopke; Daughters, Lori Barnes, Trudy Simms, Cheryl Allen, Step-daughters, Diane Carr and Deanna Burnett; One brother, Lewis Beckfield; Sisters, Alice Schannuth, Ginger Lyle, Freida Baumann and Geri Lewis.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Martha is proceeded in death by her first husband William Rathburn.

Martha was a loving mom and grandma to all.  She enjoyed farm life as well as the many years she spent working at the high school cafeteria.  

A private graveside service will be held at the Mount Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are all her other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, Memorials may be to the American Cancer society in care of Waters Funeral Home.
