Martha R. (McCormack) Day, passed away with family by her side at 8:35 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at her home in Vandalia. She was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and attended Vandalia Schools. Martha worked a few jobs after school and before her marriage to Clayton in 1957. Martha became a full-time homemaker, raising their children, and growing a nice sized vegetable garden for the family and friends to enjoy. She was a longtime member of the Bible Holiness Church in Vandalia, where she was very active. Martha particularly enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren.
Born: October 5, 1935 in Vandalia, Missouri, the daughter of Joel Albert and Mary Garnet (Cowley) McCormack.
Married: Clayton Carr in Vandalia Missouri on Marcy 16, 1957; he preceded her in death on April 4, 1992.
Survivors include:three sons: three sons: Ronald Gene and Wife, Sandy Carr of Miami, Texas; Gary Leon Carr of Vandalia; Marvin Dean and wife, Jacqueline Carr of Forest Hills, Maryland; two daughters: Carolyn Ann and husband, Charles Nutt; Anita Gail Jennings, all of Vandalia; one brother, Howard Eugene McCormack of Vandalia; grandchildren: Jason Jennings, Eric Carr, Jonothan Carr, Aaron Carr, Austin Carr, Wyatt Carr, Skylar Carr, Colton Carr, Emily Carr, Garrett Carr, Brenda Crump, Rachel Carr, Kimberly Busbey and Shelbie Carr.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Clayton; one brother, Kenneth Calvin McCormack.
Memorials are encouraged to the Bible Holiness Church in Vandalia.
