Marsha Kay Davis, a beloved educator, devoted social worker, and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Vandalia, MO. Born on January 26, 1952, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of John A. and Fannie L. Davis. Marsha dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and supporting her community.
A visitation to celebrate Marsha's life will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Vandalia, MO, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery.
The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.
She leaves behind her loving siblings: Marlon Davis, Myron Davis and his wife Kim, Marian Davis, and Mark Davis and his wife Donna, all of Vandalia, MO. Her aunts, Willisteen Miller of Mexico, MO, Cerise Davis of St. Louis, MO, and Jean Davis of Chicago, IL, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, will also carry her memory forward.
Marsha is reunited in spirit with her parents, John A. and Fannie L. Davis, and her siblings, Michael, Mitchell, and Myra Davis, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
A proud 1970 graduate of Van-Far High School, Marsha continued her education at Hannibal-LaGrange College and Northeast Missouri State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Her passion for teaching flourished in classrooms across St. Louis and Chicago, where she inspired countless students. After years of enriching the lives of children, Marsha retired as a social worker for the State of Missouri, always putting others first and advocating for those in need.
Marsha will be fondly remembered for her warm personality and the love she shared with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker, bringing joy to her loved ones with her delicious creations. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and dancing, activities that brought her great happiness. Above all, Marsha treasured spending time with family, embracing the moments that made life special.
Marsha Kay Davis enriched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark of love and kindness. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Pallbearers will be Gary Davis, Jerry Davis, Maurice Davis, Michael Wheeler, Tanner Fennelwald, Steven Holmes and Wendell Wheeler.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone that has called and brought food to the house. The repass will be held at the Modern Maturity Building.
