Marie Fowler Lois

Friday, December 26, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music provided by: Sharon Hoehn, pianist; Natalie Gibson and Gary Fowler, duet.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vandalia.
Pallbearers: Bruce Fowler, Glenn Fowler, Dean Middleton, Rodney Galloway, Donnie Gibson and David Gibson.

Lois Marie (Galloway) Fowler died at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2003 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. She had been a lifelong Spencer Creek/Liberty area resident. Lois had helped on the family farm and was a seamstress at the Ely Walker and Bobbie Brooks garment factories in Vandalia. She retired from the garment industry in 1979 and then delivered Meals-On-Wheels to area residents for a number of years. Lois was originally a member of the Spencer Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She then moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Vandalia. Lois had also served as a 4-H leader and was a member of the WTL Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, making quilts for family members and other sewing and embroidery.

Born: May 26, 1917 in rural Perry the daughter of Lyle Lefever & Mary Esther (Rohr) Galloway.

Married: Gilbert W. Fowler on November 25, 1937 in Perry.

Survivors include: one son, Alvin W. and wife, Kathy Fowler of rural Vandalia; one daughter, Bonnie M. and husband, Bob Stewart of Columbia; four brothers, Lloyd and wife, Val Galloway and Ronald and wife, Norma Galloway, all of Vandalia; J. B. and wife, Isabel Galloway of Laddonia; Lyndell and wife, Peggy Galloway of Centralia; one sister, Janice Naysmith of Laddonia; two grandchildren, Lori M. (Stewart) and husband Tracy Norcross of St. Joseph and Lane R. and wife, Ellen Stewart of McLean, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Abigail M. Norcross, Madeline G. Norcross and Olivia K. Norcross of St. Joseph; sisters-in-law, Almeda Galloway and Margaret Fowler both of Vandalia; brothers-in-law, Earl Boyd of Vandalia and Harold and wife, Virginia Fowler of Vandalia; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: husband, Gilbert; parents; one brother, Durward Galloway and two sisters, Joann (Galloway) Boyd and Mary Sue Galloway.

Memorials may be made to Spencer Creek Baptist Church.
