Service:

Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street, Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Mike Barter.
Music provided by: Shirley Forgy - pianist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Kenny Thurman, Lloyd McCurdy, Rick Allen, Merle James, Lyndle Chrisman and Stacy Branstetter. Honorary pallbearers: Jim Cook, Chad Spitz, Jacob Hemond, Tommy Hutcheson, Bill King and Eddie Thurman.

Margie Lucille (Gore) Hook passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. Lucille was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and graduated from Vandalia High School in 1942. After school, she worked at the Ely Walker Garment Factory in Vandalia for several years. Later she worked for over 12 years at Tri-County Care Center, retiring in 1986. Lucille was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia since November 18, 1934, where she served as the Sunday school secretary for many years. She was also active in the Tuesday Card Club, the Meals-on-Wheels program, the War Dads Auxilliary, bingo nights at the Vandalia VFW Post 2173 where she helped the ladies auxilliary and for many years provided a "taxi" service to many people around town who could no longer drive.

Born: January 21, 1924 in the Spencer Creek area north of Vandalia the daughter of Edgar Davis and Ruth Rebecca (Shaw) Gore.

Married: Clyde Edward Hook Sr. on June 23, 1944 in Fulton, Missouri; he preceded her in death on August 24, 1976.

Survivors include: one son, Edgar Lee and wife, Judith Hook of Lancaster, California; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hook of Connecticut; six grandchildren: Sara, Lesley, Natalie, Jim, Chad and Tiffany; 13 great-grandchildren: Gabriel Cook, William Cook, Conner Cook, Dannelle Stennett, Derian Stennett, David Swinford, Blaine Swinford, Maddison Linton, Savanna Spritz, Bailey Martin, Payton Martin, Jace Martin and Mason Hemmond; a very special friend, Glenda Allen of Vandalia.

Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Clyde E. Hook Sr.; one son, Clyde E. Hook Jr. on February 21, 2000.

Memorials are encouraged to the First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
