Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.

Mabel (Utterback) Goodpasture passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 7, 2009 at her home in Vandalia. Mabel had lived in the Estes area of Pike County during her school years. She graduated from Bowling Green High School with the class of 1929. After high school, Mabel attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois. Mabel and Selby L. Goodpasture were married in her parents home in Estes in 1932, at which time they moved to Vandalia. She had worked in Quincy for a few years before her marriage, then worked at the Ely-Walker Garment factory for a few years. Mabel and Selby owned and operated Selby's Friendly Market for eight years and then owned and operated the Vandalia Lumber Company for over 17 years prior to their retirement in November 1973. She was a charter member of Vandalia V.F.W. Post 2173 Auxiliary, the Arts and Crafts Federated Club and the Modern Maturity Senior Citizens and Board of Directors for a number of years. Mabel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as the church financial secretary, Sunday school teacher and served on a number of committees.
Born: October 6, 1910 in Estes, Missouri the daughter of Thomas Berton and Emma Coffee (Bell) Utterback.
Married: Selby L. Goodpasture on June 26, 1932; he preceded her in death on August 26, 1995.
Survivors include: daughter-in-law, Charlene Goodpasture of Vandalia; four granddaughters: Felicity and husband, Shannon Culwell Jr. of rural Vandalia; Emily and husband, Darrin Davies of Dawn, Missouri; Leticia and husband, Ryan Hulse of Hannibal, Missouri and Greta and husband, Justin Hopke of rural Vandalia; seven great-grandchildren: Treyson, Annalynn and Reece Culwell; Shelby, Dustin and Delaney Davies; Selby Hulse; three nieces: Eileen Lentz of Charleston, South Carolina; Louise Becker of Monroe City, Missouri and Melba Tribble of Colorado.
Preceded in death by: husband, Selby; one son, Eugene Goodpasture; one infant daughter, Helen Faye Goodpasture and one sister, Eileen Lindemann.
