Service:

Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music provided by: selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Merle Clifton, Rodney Martin, Craig Martin, Scott Martin, Ryan Clifton and Derek Clifton. Honorary pallbearers: Hanna Gartman, Sara Gartman, Jane Gartman, Shirley Gieselman, Rebecca Clifton and Muriel Martin.

Lora Mae (Powell) Gore passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia, Missouri. She had grown up and attended country schools in the West Hartford area. After school and her marriage to Basil, Lora Mae was a farm wife and homemaker on the family farm in Ralls County. She moved to Vandalia in 1993 and had been a resident at Tri-County Care Center for several years. Lora Mae had been a long-time member of the Spencer Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, word-finds and puzzles.

Born: March 18, 1907 in Perry, Missouri the daughter of Bowen and Mertie (Campbell) Powell.

Married: Claude Basil Gore on August 17, 1927 in Vandalia; he preceded her in death on August 29, 1999.

Survivors include: one daughter, Dora Mae Clifton of Bowling Green, Missouri; four grandchildren: Merle and wife, Rebecca Clifton of Mexico, Missouri; Jane and husband, John Gartman of Bowling Green; Shirley and husband, Stanley Gieselman of Burlington, Iowa and Rodney and wife, Muriel Martin of rural Vandalia; six great-grandchildren: Craig and wife, Rebecca Martin of Vandalia; Scott Martin of Vandalia; Ryan Clifton and Derek Clifton of Columbia, Missouri; Sara Gartman of New London and Hanna Gartman of Bowling Green; three great-great-grandchildren: James Keith of Columbia; April Campbell of Lamesa, California and Erin Ward of Vandalia; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: husband, Basil; one son: Powell Owen Gore; one brother: Frankie Powell; one daughter: Dorothy L. Martin; son-in-laws: Vernon Clifton and Bill Martin.

Memorials are encouraged to the Spencer Creek Baptist Church, 1105 S. Monroe, Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
