Lola Long

Lola Long, age 75, of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home.  

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Waters Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Bro. Kenny Haddock will officiate.

A visitation celebrating Lola's life will be at 1:00 pm until the time of service, Friday at Waters Funeral Home.

Lola was born on January 22, 1949, in Perry, MO the daughter of Jerry R. and Myrtle (Marshall) Graves.

She was united in marriage to Daniel W. Long, Jr. in 1965.  He preceded her in death on September 9, 2022.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Rice of Vandalia, MO, Regina Phillips (David) of Williamsburg, MO and Karen Long (friend Vonda Trivette) of Hunnewell, MO; brother, Edward Graves (Susie Finley) of Farber, MO; sisters, Betty Cinkan of Vandalia, MO, Carol McDonald (Raymond) of Vandalia, MO and Daisy Lee Black of IL; grandchildren; Christopher Rice (Jennifer); E.J. Ames (Danielle). Samantha Barse' (Chris); and Cody Ames (Hayley) and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by a brother who died while serving his country during Vietnam.

Lola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She worked as a homemaker all her life, making sure her children and grandchildren were taken care of.  In her free time, Lola enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, drinking her coffee, playing Bingo and going to Quarter Madness.  Trips to DQ for Biscuits & Gravy and chocolate shakes were also a treat Lola enjoyed.

Lola's biggest love was her family.  Her memories will be cherished by all who knew her.  Her favorite quote she left for her family was "Keep the Faith".

Pallbearers will be Cody Ames, E.J. Ames, Chris Carver, Allen Morris, Jason Erdle, and Kevin Motley.

Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Barse'.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waters Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
