Lois Elaine (Hoffmeyer) Jeffries passed awayat 6:20 p.m. on Monday, June13, 2016 at theTri-County Care Center in Vandalia. She had lived in Vandalia since 1946 and was a 1947 graduate of Vandalia High School. Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia where she had been active in the Ruth Circle and had served as a deacon. For 28 years,Lois had worked as a cook in the Van-Far Elementary School cafeteria. She enjoyed playing golf, crafts, cooking and traveling.
Born: January 26, 1930 in Wellsville, Missouri the daughter of Francis William and Althea (Maskey) Hoffmeyer.
Married: David Edward Jeffries on June27, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri; he preceded her in death on March 22, 2008.
Survivors include: two sons: Darryl and wife, Ruth Jeffries of Palmyra; Bob and wife, Sonya Jeffries of Frankford; one daughter, Cathy Jeffries of Harrah, Oklahoma; one sister, Norma J. Daniels of Vandalia; six grandchildren: Tony and wife, Christine Jeffries of Hannibal; Frank and wife, Brandy Jeffries of Palmyra; Melissa Dempsey and Ray Diemert of Troy; Nathan and wife, Sabrina Jeffries of Winfield; Jules Eoff III and Coletta Eoff both of Vandalia; also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, David; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Jeffries; brother-in-law, Jim Daniels.
Memorials are encouraged to the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia.
