Ella L. Beard died unexpectedly at 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She had been a resident of Springfield, Illinois for many years. She had retired from the State of Illinois Secretary of State Licensing Bureau after over 22 years of service. She had moved her church membership from the Second Christian Church in Vandalia to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield.

Born: March 27, 1922 in Vandalia, Missouri to Elmer Normal and Eonnie Lee Cannon Davis.

Married: She was married to the late Rev. Robert Beard.

Survivors include: one daughter, Diane Beard of Springfield, IL; her companion, John Vains of Springfield, IL; grandson, Martell Beard of Springfield, IL; granddaughter, Lorena Beard of Springfield, IL; Godchildren, Jermaine Lott, Cheryl Carr, Ta-Tanisha Carr all of Springfield, IL, Sholonda Carr of Chicago; sister, Hennetta Simons; Beloved Friend, Patricia Greene of Springfield, IL and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by: parents; one sister, Arzola Lee Davis Watt.
