Kennard G. McPike, age 59, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away at 2:56 am Saturday, October 17, 2020, due to the results of an automobile accident.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, October 23, 2020, at the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia. Rev. Melvin McCaleb will officiate.
The service will be able to be viewed via the Waters Funeral Home Facebook page at 1:00 pm Friday.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Waters Funeral Home.
Kennard was born on February 27, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Kenneth and Inez (Salmon) McPike.
Survivors include his mother, Inez McPike of Vandalia, MO; children, Kendra Shaw of Las Vegas, NV, Keya Demica Vasser of Atlanta, GA, Mercedes McPike of Jacksonville, FL, Kennard Shaw (Tamara) of Las Vegas, NV and Ramone Vasser of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Estral McPike of Vandalia, MO and William Marshall of Dolton, IL; sister, Charlotte Little of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Kennard Shaw, Jr., Keyona Shaw, Kyiana Dasia Vasser, Di'Anna McPike, Nylah Joseph; one great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kennard was preceded in death by Father, Kenneth E. McPike and daughter, Kecia Nichelle Conley.
Professionally Kennard worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Kennard enjoyed working and the companionship of his co-workers. Away from work, Kennard enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite past time was cooking. Kennard was an amazing cook that was always whipping up new recipes for his family an friends. His biggest love was his family and friends and the time they cherished together.
Kennard was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
