Juanita Faye Smith

Juanita Faye Smith, age 86, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 3:56 am Monday, July 20, 2020, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the Waters Funeral Home. Bro. Kenny Haddock will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.

A visitation celebrating the life of Juanita Faye Smith will be held at 1:00 pm until the time of service on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at the Waters Funeral Home.

Faye was born on May 23, 1934, in Hannibal, Missouri the daughter of George and Nora Landers.

She was united in marriage to Reed Jay Smith on October 17, 1953 in Vandalia, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Dale (Kelly) Smith of Vandalia, and Larry Wayne Smith of Mexico; three grandchildren, Alicia Smith, Matthew Smith and Mike (Katie) Smith; two great grandchildren, Zander Smith and Breklyn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Landers and Nora Landers; husband, Reed Jay Smith; one brother and three sisters.

Faye attended the South Side Baptist Church in Vandalia and was a strong believer in the lord. She loved basketball and even more so when she got to watch her grandkids play during school. A big joy for Faye was when Van-Far won the state championship in 2004. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her family dinners on Sundays after church.

Pallbearers will be LeRoy Schlueter, Dave Sanders, Richie Schlueter, Ronnie Krigbaum and Marvin Yager.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddy Jones, Matthew Smith and Mike Smith.
