Officiating will be: Rev. John Harris.
Music provided by: Delores Smith - soloist and Carole Smith - pianist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Art Wiser, William Wheeler, Jamie Wheeler, Aaron Cockrell, Sammy Lee and Ronnie Green. Honorary pallbearers: William Cockrell, Bob Pastley, James Henderson, Jessie Salmon, Roger Chatman, Charles Holman and Terry Joe Holt.

JoAnn Louise (Shelton) Stapleton passed away unexpectedly at 5:31 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. She attended schools in Mexico, Missouri and was a 1950 graduate of Garfield High School. JoAnn was a full-time homemaker and worked part-time at the hotel and laundromat. She was a member of the Second Christian Church in Vandalia where she was active in the Women's Fellowship Club. JoAnn also enjoyed sewing, baking, scrapbooking and photos. She most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Born: December 18, 1931 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Otis Carl and Dorothy Ida Fye (Hughes) Shelton.

Married: James Richard Stapleton on May 27, 1951 in Mexico, Missouri; he survives at the home.

Survivors include: one son: Lawrence R. Stapleton of Vandalia; one daughter: Cindy L. Stapleton-Harris and husband Dominic Harris of Florissant, Missouri; one sister: Rosetta Jones of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Jennifer Lee of Ballwin, Missouri; James Harris and Gabriel Harris both of Florissant; two great-grandchildren: Estevan Lee and Brianna Lee both of Ballwin; one daughter-in-law: Beverly Stapleton of Vandalia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by: parents; one son: Steven R. Stapleton who died in 2002; one brother: Carl Otis Shelton; one niece: Jeanette Jones.
