James “Jim” Patton Motley

James “Jim” Patton Motley, 77, of Columbia, MO formerly of Vandalia, MO passed away at 12:23 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia. David Moore will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the Waters Funeral Home.
James was born on August 25, 1941, in Vandalia, MO the son of Malcom L. and Sue J. (Patton) Motley.
Jim graduated from Van-Far High School in 1959 and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Motley worked as a collection’s specialist for Certified Collections in Columbia, MO before his retirement.
Jim enjoyed his working career and spending time with a few close friends.
Survivors include his lifelong friends, Beverly Brown and her daughter, Amy Larkin of Fayette, MO.
Mr. Motley was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Gage Thies, David Moore, Kaylee Thies and Shelby Larkin.
