Ida Mae "Kerr" Wiser, 95, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 12:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Tri-County Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery .
Visitation celebrating Ida Mae "Kerr" Wiser will be held 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Waters Funeral Home.
Ida was born on March 27, 1924, in New Hartford, MO the daughter of Gordon and Anna Bell (Fisher) Kerr.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Wiser, Sr. on November 12, 1949, in Vandalia, MO. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2008.
Survivors include her children, Jacqueline Y. Jones and husband James of Rock Island, IL, Janet A. Turner and husband Ronald of Vandalia, MO, Wanda L. Connor and husband Louis of Vandalia, MO, Darrel E. Wiser and wife Valeria of Macon, MO; 26 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren; also surviving are a host nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Gordon Kerr and David and Anna Bell Cheatom, Mrs. Wiser was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wiser; son, Kenneth Wiser, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Margaret Wiser; brothers, Edward Kerr and Jessie Kerr; sisters, Hazel Wallace and Naomi Kerr; along with a very special friend, like a sister, Mrs. Annie Clifton;
two grandchildren, Brandon Overton and Kourtnee Hein; three great-granddaughters, Imani De'Shi Wiser, Leslie Monet Wiser and Shelby Hein, two great-great grandchildren, Anthony Walden and Iviana Walden.
Ida attended schools in Louisiana, MO. Professionally Ida worked for Bobbie Brooks Garment Factory in Vandalia before retirement.
Ida loved her family and cherished hosting and cooking family dinners and BBQ every Sunday and Holidays at her home. Gardening and canning was one of Ida's talents she enjoyed. Away from home and work, Mrs. Wiser enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, going to the casino, playing card games especially poker and playing Wii bowling. Ida was known as the family historian and always was the one to have the last word in a conversation.
Ida was a lifelong member and the oldest living member of Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center in Vandalia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Missionary Baptist Church Worship Center, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Greene, William Wheeler, Wendel Wheeler, Aaron Cockrell, Gregory Johnson and Gary Bishop.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Wheeler, Art Wiser, James Jones, Ronald Turner, Louis Connor, and Donnell Perkins.
