Ida May Belt, age 95, of Warrensburg, MO passed away at 9:03 am Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
A private family graveside service and burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 11:00 am. Densil Allen of Warrensburg will officiate.
Ida was born on August 20, 1926, in Adeline, Louisiana the daughter of George and Jeanne Haydel.
She was united in marriage to Salem F. "Buddy" Belt on July 19, 1951, in Louisa, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phala Haydel.
Survivors include special friend Christina Elders-Norton, Troy, Missouri, and many cousins.
Ida May was a soft spoken, gentle woman with a heart of gold. She had many talents from being a phenomenal seamstress, amazing cook as well as a talented gardener and quite accomplished in speaking French. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do, from wiring a lamp to putting shingles on a roof. If someone needed something she was there. Ida May met her soul mate Buddy Belt while working at Morton Chemical, in New Iberia, Louisiana. He swept her off her feet and together they resided in Texas City, TX until moving to Warrensburg, MO where she resided until 2014 when she moved to Troy, MO. Buddy and Ida May were the definition of “love”, the two of them were inseparable and truly devoted to one another for 57 years.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Collett, Warrensburg, MO, Aaron Collett, Warrensburg, MO, Tom Fraccascia, Kansas City, MO and Rick Butler, Troy, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Baptist Children's Home or Powell Gardens, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
