Helen Mae Pease, age 89, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 10:46 pm Monday, May 31, 2021, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 4, 2021 at Waters Funeral Home. Bro. Kenny Haddock and Rev. Jerry Gamm will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.
Visitation celebrating Helen's life will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of service Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Waters Funeral Home.
Helen was born on January 3, 1932, at home north of Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of William Carl Keller and Edna Smith Keller Epperson. She attended Prairie Lane grade school and rode a pony with her brothers to school. She graduated from Vandalia High School class of 1949.
She was united in marriage to Ira Melvin Pease of Vandalia on December 9, 1951. They resided on the family farm where they raised a family of four children in the Pleasant Plains community south of Vandalia. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Reading; and brothers, Mayo Keller, Roy Keller, Dale Keller, Melvin Fred Epperson and Leo Keller who died in infancy.
Survivors included three sons, Randy Pease of Vandalia, Darwyn (Debbie) Pease of rural Curryville, and Larry (Krista) Pease of Center; one daughter, Helen Denise Nolan of Vandalia; four grandchildren, Emily Ebers, Deanna Nolan, Josh (Emily) Pease and Caleb (Sarah) Pease; three great grandchildren, Kyle Ebers, Ashton Garnett and Amelia Pease and also many nieces and nephews.
Helen worked for a short time at the local garment factory in Vandalia. She was a great gardener, loved taking care of her family and sewing. She was often found helping her husband in the fields, part of being a farmer's wife.
Pallbearers will be Josh Pease, Caleb Pease, Kyle Ebers, Ashton Garnett, Howard Reading and Derrick Reading.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tri County Care Center or the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Waters Funeral Home, P.O. Box 84, Vandalia, MO 63382.
