Helen Ora Holman passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. Helen was a lifelong Vandalia resident and longtime member of the Second Christian Church. She attended Lincoln School in Vandalia where she was the last and only graduate of the class of 1943 before the school closed. After graduation with her determined spirit, she moved to Chicago. Her love for fashion from her pageboy haircut down to the jewelry down to the heels on her feet. Helen loved to cook and bake. She was a waitress in Chicago and Vandalia. She had worked at Harbison Walker Refractories from June 3, 1977 until she retired on June 30, 1987. Helen did not have any biological children, however she treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, often babysitting them.
Born: February 9, 1924 in Vandalia, the daughter of Albert Lee and Mary Elizabeth Holman.
Survivors include: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by: parents; two sisters and four brothers.
