Officiating will be: Rev. Dr. Kenneth Jarvis.
Music provided by: Linda and Dennis Richardson; Joy Davis, pianist.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Geoffry Carter, Jon Carter, Jason Loughran, Rennie Davis, Alan Adam and Ryan Hesse.
Helen L. Carter died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. Prior to her marriage, Helen had worked at the Boss Glove Factory near Kewanee. She then worked at the J C Penney store in Peoria, Illinois for many years, retiring in 1978. Helen had been a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and quilting and was an excellent cook and baker. Helen also enjoyed watching baseball and sewing doll clothes. She was a longtime member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Born: November 3, 1910 in Kewanee, Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Bertha(Warner)Nicholson.
Married: Clarence Everett Carter on June 17, 1939; he preceded her in death in September 1980.
Survivors include: one son, Dr. Rex D. and wife, Ann Carter of Vandalia; one brother, Chester and wife Helen Nicholson of Kewanee; three grandchildren, Geoffrey and wife, Susan Carter of Lee's Summit; Jon and wife, Hayley Carter of Kansas City; Elizabeth and husband, Jason Loughran of Iowa City, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Carolyn and Hayden Carter; Jackson, Ethan and Piper Carter; Ellie and Mia Loughran; one niece and three nephews and special friends Connie Hesse and her family.
Preceded in death by: husband, Clarence E. Carter; two brothers, Dean Nicholson who died in infancy and Dale Nicholson.
