Glendal Wayne Fowler passed away unexpectedly at 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital. He was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and a 1967 Van-Far High School graduate. Glendal worked as a brick setter and forklift operator at Harbison Walker Refractories in Vandalia for about 12 years. He then worked with his father at Fowler Oil Company for another 12 years. Glendal was a Christian by faith and enjoyed reading, watching movies and anything to do with history, outside gardening and yard work. He also enjoyed traveling with his long-time friend, Julie Stoutz.
Born: May 5, 1949 in Hannibal, Missouri the son of William Glen and Ariel Margaret (Trower) Fowler.
Married: Brenda Gail Fletcher on August 8, 1969; she preceded him in death. For the past 20 years he has been a close companion with Julie A. Stoutz of Vandalia.
Survivors include: Julie A. Stoutz of Vandalia; one sister: Rhonda F. and husband, George Travis Jr. of Vandalia and their son, Justin and wife, Lori Travis of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Also survived by several cousins and many friends.
Preceded in death by: his parents.
