Glenda Lavonne McCurdy

Glenda Lavonne McCurdy, age 71, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 10:05 pm Thursday, June 30, 2022, at her home.  

Funeral services will be held at 12 o'clock noon Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Jamie Franke will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery. 

Visitation celebrating Glenda's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service Wednesday at the Waters Funeral Home. 

Glenda was born on October 22, 1950, in Longdale, OK the daughter of Gerald and Noma (Landt) Pharis.

She was united in marriage to Billy McCurdy in December of 1968, in Mexico, MO

Survivors include her husband Billy McCurdy of the home; sons, David McCurdy of Moberly, MO and Jesse McCurdy of Vandalia, MO; daughter, Staci Maloney of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Lauren Maloney, Sydney Maloney, Makenya McCurdy, Jacob Maloney, Kyler Maloney, Kayson McCurdy, Addalyn McCurdy, Karter McCurdy and Jaxton McCurdy; great-grandson, Declan McCormick; brother, Steve Pharis (Melissa) of Oklahoma; sister, Phyliss Bryan of Vandalia, MO and sister-in-law, Judy Pharis of Hannibal, MO.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCurdy was preceded in death by her step-father, Harold Tophinke; step-mother, Dale Pharis; brother, Gerald Dean Pharis and son-in-law, Chris Maloney.

Glenda graduated from Van-Far High School in the class of 1968.  She had worked around the Vandalia area most her life.  Her first job was at the A&W and later worked at Starks Nursery and Target Aluminum.  Glenda's favorite job was taking care of family as a homemaker.

Away from work, Glenda enjoyed sewing, collecting Avon, cooking, bowling in which she received a bowling trophy in high school and was an avid Elvis fan.  In her younger years Glenda and Billy enjoyed camping and dancing and later in life, Glenda never missed her favorite show Days of our Lives.  Glenda's biggest love was her family.  She cherished raising her children and the time spent with her grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith McCurdy, Lloyd McCurdy, Tim McCurdy, Errett Pargeon, Jeff Pargeon and John Pargeon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Heart Association, in care of the Waters Funeral Home.
