Geneva Jessie Ferguson

Geneva Jessie Ferguson, age 74, of Columbia, MO passed away at 8:54 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at her home with her loving family at her side.  

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Waters Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery. 

Visitation celebrating Geneva's life will be held 10:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the Waters Funeral Home. 

Geneva was born on December 31, 1948, in High Hill, MO the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Wilson) Connor.

She was united in marriage to Harold Ferguson on February 19, 2002.  He preceded her in death on November 11, 2019.

Survivors include a daughter, LaDawn Holt (Terry Joe, Jr.) of Columbia, MO; sons, Gerald Connor (Elizabeth) of Kokomo, IN and Arthniel D. Hammers; brother, Louis Connor (Wanda) of Vandalia, MO; sisters, Violet Lee (Samuel) of Vandalia, MO, Charlene Wilson of Vandalia, MO and Shirley Pearl of Vandalia, MO; grandchildren, Frashon, LaTara, Jarrod, Chelsea, LaTonia, Jeremy, Asha and Austin and great-grandchildren, Mya, Jalayis, Emmanuel, Ezekiel, Emmy Lou, Issabel and Aaliyah, Gideon

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Paul and Vincent; sisters, Joyce, Ruth and Lucy; granddaughter, LaTamara and great-grandson, Chandler.

Geneva worked as a CNA for home health care and later at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico before her retirement.

Dancing, playing cards, and trips to the river boat were all things that Geneva enjoyed.  She was a talented cook that made the best fried fish, fried chicken and all the fixing to go with it.  Her bread pudding was her award winning desert.  Geneva's biggest love was her family, she cherished every moment spent with them.

Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Vandalia.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Connor, T.J. Connor, LaMark Wilson, Terry Joe Holt Jr., Jarrod Connor and Jeremy Connor

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
