Service:

Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel, 500 S. Main Street in Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
Officiating will be: Rev. Marvin Jones.
Music provided by: Alta Jones and Lorene Syler.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Casey Schambach, Clinton Schambach, Bobby Johnson, Frankie Wallace, Chad Wallace and Kent Betts. Honorary pallbearers: Klayton Haddock, Andrew Myers, Paul Schambach and Tyler Schambach.

Frederick David Schambach Jr. passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Fred was a 1953 graduate of Clopton R3 High School and worked near his home for a couple years before joining the U. S. Navy. He served his country for two years before returning to the area. Fred worked for several years at the FurnitureMart in Bowling Green. He and Bonnie moved to the Vandalia area in 1966 when he started working for the Double E Stock Farms north of Vandalia. Fred worked for the Wallaces for many years, retiring in 2007. He was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia where he served as a trustee. Fred enjoyed farming, camping, fishing, hunting, attending bluegrass festivals and attending his grandchildren's ballgames.

Born: October 29, 1935 in rural Clarksville, Missouri the son of Frederick David and Florence (Adams) Schambach Sr.

Married: Bonnie Sue Dowell in Hannibal, Missouri on December 13, 1958; she survives.

Survivors include: three sons, David W. and wife, Lori Schambach of rural Middletown, Missouri; Dean and wife, Gina Schambach of rural Vandalia; Mike R. and wife, Carol Schambach of rural Vandalia; one daughter: Karen S. Myers of Vandalia; one brother, J. W. Schambach of Pittsfield, Illinois; five sisters, Maribelle Cohea of Cyrene, Missouri, Ruth Cromwell of Kansas City, Peggy Betts of Bowling Green, Missouri, Bonnie Oshea of Louisiana, Missouri and Judy Colbert of Clarksville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren: Kayla Shaw, Clinton Schambach, Kristen Schambach, Casey Schambach, Danyelle Pool, Allie Schambach, Emma Schambach, Paul Schambach, Tyler Schambach, Klayton Haddock and Andrew Myers and one great-grandson: Aadin Shaw.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Dennis Schambach and Clifford Schambach; one son-in-law: John Myers.

Memorials are encouraged to the Southside Baptist Church, 805 W. Walsh Blvd., Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
