Ethel Ruth (Cheney) Clausen passed away unexpectedly at 10:08 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her home in Farber. She attended Farber schools and was a lifelong Farber area resident. Ruth had been a full-time homemaker and had worked as a cook at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia for many years. She was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church and the Farber Fire Department Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, shopping, her flowers, visiting with family and friends and her two companion dogs, Daisy and Pete.

Born: July 10, 1954 in Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of Floyd Richard and Ethel Lee (Kuda) Cheney Sr.

Married: James Stanley Clausen in Farber on September 12, 1972; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2005.

Survivors include: mother, Ethel of Farber; three brothers: Floyd Richard Cheney II of the Philippines; Wayne Cheney of rural Vandalia and Randy Cheney of Farber; three sisters: Carolyn Ford of Vandalia; Altha Gillenwater of Farber and Wanda Winders of Vandalia; also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Preceded in death by: father; husband; sister, Myra Woolfolk, and two nephews: Russell Cheney and Jonathan Gillenwater.

Memorials are encouraged to the Elm Grove Baptist Church or to the Farber Fire Department.
