Donna Jean Caldwell

Donna Jean Caldwell, age 78, of Vandalia, MO passed away at 11:33 pm Sunday, September 6, 2020, at her home with her loving family by her side.

The family will host a private graveside service on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia.

Donna was born on January 28, 1942, in rural Vandalia, Missouri the daughter of Hugh Ramsey Caldwell and Alta Ellen Seeley.

Survivors include, three sisters, twins, Karen and Sharon Caldwell of Vandalia, MO, and Maxine McDannold of Two Harbors, MN; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and one great great great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; Mary Mae Dutler, Winnie Alta Luckett and Agnes Roberts; five brothers, Kerwin Lew Caldwell, Hugh Ramsey Caldwell, Jr., Ray Albert Caldwell, Harry Lee Caldwell and Roy Wallace Caldwell.

Donna graduated from Van-Far High School class of 1960 and went on to further her education at Kirksville State University graduating with a Masters in education.

Donna was a member of  Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a devoted elementary school and special education teacher committing 40 years to the education of children. Donna received an outstanding teacher award for her hard work and commitment during her career. She loved teaching and working with challenged children. When she wasn't educating the children she enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She could often be found relaxing while reading a good book, taking trips and spending time with her loved family and friends.

Donna was a member of  First Presbyterian Church.
