Clara Belle Shaver, age 84, of Vandalia, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the Baptist Home of Tri-County in Vandalia Missouri.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Vandalia Cemetery. Pastor Rick Watson will Officiate.
A Visitation celebrating Clara's life will be held at 10:00 am at Waters Funeral Home until the time of the graveside service.
Clara was born on August 16, 1939 in Ralls County, the daughter of Willard and Elsie Lybarger. She married Nelson Shaver on October 25, 1957 in Hannibal Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2001
Survivors include her great-great (pride and joy) nephew whom she helped raise, Alex Wilson and niece, Susan Wilson of Vandalia. Several more nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends, Herman and Jeannie Smith and Marylee Guessman of Vandalia and Kathy Matin of Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Clara grew up on a farm near Curryville and was a 1957 graduate of Bowling Green High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia, the Eastern Missouri Cowboy Church in Pike County and the Farmer Farmerette club until it dissolved in 2022. She was a laborer at Dura Automotive until she retired.
She enjoyed cooking for others, sewing and going anywhere with a van full of her friends. She especially enjoyed country music shows and watching Alex participate in bowling competitions.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #510 in care of Waters Funeral Home.
