Interment: Intermentof his cremains will be in the Vandalia Cemetery at a later date.

Chad Allen Hays passed away unexpectedly at 5:35p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 during a vehicle accident on Route V east of Vandalia.Chad lived all his life in the Vandalia area and was a 1998 Van-Far High School graduate. While in school, Chad was active in Boy Scouts where he earned his Eagle Scout badge. After graduating, Chad worked at Optec, Mike's Tire Service in Bowling Green, the City of Vandalia and MFA Agri-Service in Vandalia. He has been employed the last three years in the press room at Harbison Walker Refractories in Vandalia. Chad enjoyed most anything outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing and camping. He also liked being with his friends and a challenging game of billiards.

Born: November23, 1979 in Mexico, Missouri the son of Robert Allen and Lisa Rena (DeTienne) Hays.

Married: Amber Marie Galarza on August 8, 2001in Hannibal; she survives at the home.

Survivors include: wife, Amber of rural Vandalia; parents, Robert and Lisa Hays of Vandalia; one son, Christopher M. A. Hays of rural Vandalia; two daughters: Alyssa M. R. Hays and Ayanna M. J. Hays both of rural Vandalia; one sister, Trina R. Hays and boyfriend, Allen Wright both of Vandalia; one sister-in-law, April Galarza and boyfriend, Robert Dutton; paternal grandmother, Betty Hays of Vandalia; maternal grandparents, Berwyn Lewis and Kay Dutton both of Vandalia; father-in-law, Harold Ledford of Vandalia; also survived by one nephew, two nieces, many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Preceded in death by: great-grandparents: Millie Stapleton; Joe and Regina Deters; Richard and Sarah Myers; grandparents: Billy Joe Hays; Shan Lewis and Ray DeTienne.

Memorials are encouraged to an Education Fund for the three children established with Martinsburg Bank & Trust.
