Monday, June 17, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Service:

Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Harmony Christian Church south of Curryville.
Officiating will be: Pastor Dawn Marie Turner.
Music provided by: Deborah Kraft - pianist.
Interment will be in the New Harmony Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers: Allen Heyer, Adam Moore, Danny Smith Jr., David Smith, Matthew Smith and Marion Branstetter. Honorary pallbearers: Carl Blacketer, Danny Smith, Rick DeVault and Walter Johnson.

Calvin Erwin Moore passed away at 2:46 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. Erwin was a lifelong area resident and a 1947 graduate of Bowling Green High School. After high school, he farmed until he joined the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Erwin served his country in Germany at an Evac Hospital for over a year. Shortly after his return, he married Susie Pendergast and they farmed in the Curryville/Vandalia area for many years. Erwin was a longtime member of the New Harmony Christian Church and a member of the Vandalia Oddfellows Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and raising some of the best sweet corn in the area, which he shared with neighbors and friends.

Born: June 29, 1930 in rural Middletown, Missouri the son of Calvin E. and Alma Lea (Harp) Moore.

Married: Helen Delamae "Susie" Pendergast in Farber on June 10, 1956, she preceded him in death on October 29, 1970; he then married Betty Isabel (Tobias) Griffith in Curryville on July 17, 1974, she survives.

Survivors include: wife, Betty of Bowling Green; one son, John E. and wife, Vicky Moore of Auxvasse, Missouri; two daughters: Susie M. and husband, Rick DeVault of Temple, Texas; Penny D. and husband, Danny Smith of Mexico, Missouri; one step-son, David W. and wife, Jane Griffith of Townsend, Massachusetts; one step-daughter, Patricia G. Heyer of Eolia, Missouri; one brother, R. E. and wife, Jennie Moore of St. Joseph, Missouri; three sisters: Wanda Holcumbrink of Curryville; Sue M. and Dave Davis of Kirksville, Missouri and Kay Willis of Mexico; 13 grandchildren: Hanna DeVault and Elizabeth DeVault both of Temple, Texas; Adam Moore of Kansas City and Nicholas Moore of Springfield, Missouri; D. J. Smith of Columbia; David Smith of Kansas City; Michaela Sharlott of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Matthew Smith of Columbia and Sarah Smith of Mexico; Allen Heyer of Troy; Alicia Heyer and Janaleigh Heyer both of Eolia; Tracie Burlamachi of Gunstable, Massachusetts; also survived by eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: parents; two brothers who died in infancy, Merle and Verle Moore; one sister, Yvonne Branstetter.

Memorials are encouraged to the New Harmony Christian Church or to the New Harmony Cemetery Association.
