William "Bill" M. Dunn died at 2:31 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2003 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia. After serving three years in the U. S. Army during World War II, he started a career as a natural gas superintendent for Mercer County, Illinois. Bill then served as the superintendent at Rensselaer, Indiana, from which he retired and moved to Vandalia. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1270. Bill was also a life member of Vandalia VFW Post 2173.
Born: September 10, 1923 in Mercer County, Illinois, the son of Rolle Lee and Fara Pratt Dunn.
Married: Edith Anne Donovan on June 18, 1966 in Sheffield, Illinois; she survives at the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Edith of Vandalia; two sisters, Lila Mae Sipes of Reynolds, Illinois and Ruth Foxall of Macomb, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: his parents and three brothers.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Vandalia.
