Betty "Juanita" Richards passed away unexpectedly at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at her home in Vandalia. She grew up in the rural Pike County area and attended area schools. While living in the Vandalia area, Juanita worked for many years at the garment factories in Vandalia and enjoyed sewing. She retired after seven years of service teaching vocational sewing at the WERDCC prison in Vandalia. Juanita was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church near Louisiana, Missouri. She was active in the Ralls County Democratic Organization and a member and past officer of the I.L.G.W.V. garment workers union. Juanita enjoyed working around her home, sewing, dancing and spending time with family.
Born: November 18, 1937 in rural Pike County, Missouri the daughter of Freddie Joseph and Viola Mae (Perkins) Riechard..

Survivors include: three sons, Charles H. and wife, Kelly Richards of Ontario, California; Freddie J. and wife, Mary Richards of Vandalia; Richard R. Richards of Riverside, California; two step-sons, Ricky Goodhart of Vandalia and Billy E. Richards of Bakersfield, California; one brother, Junior R. and wife, Ruth Ann Riechard of rural Center, Missouri; one sister, Margaret Sue Ince of Louisiana, Missouri; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: parents; one brother, Odel Riechard who passed in 1946 and one sister, Thelma Lorena Yager.
