Anna was born on April 21, 1960, the daughter of Albert and Carole (Winterbower) Westlund in Kansas City, Kansas.
She married Stanley Hazel in 1977.
Anna attended JC Herman schools in Kansas City and graduated in 1979. She then joined the Air Force.
After her service, Anna worked for Wal-Mart until her death.
Anna loved buying ugly T-shirts on sale for anyone who needed one. She loved traveling, visiting water towers, and taking lots of pictures (of everything). Anna enjoyed gardening and loved to grow her own roses, fruits, and vegetables. More than anything Anna loved her family, her husband, kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved bugging Stanley (husband), harassing Cecilia (granddaughter), and bribing Ryland, Kayden, and Hayden (grandsons) with food. Anna was proud of Samuel (son) and Vanessa (granddaughter) for their enlistment in the United States military. She was proud of Joseph (grandson) for the father he has become. She loved Dominic (grandson) like her very own son and helped nurse him as an infant. She was excited for Caleb’s (grandson) future, and proud of Melody (granddaughter) for graduating high school, she also loved hugs from her “baby bones” (Madylin, granddaughter). Anna loved “Bob” (Robert, brother) playing the guitar. She loved relating to her children and even bought her own clarinet for Cassandra (daughter) to teach her. Anna was always her own person, good or bad…
Anna’s wish was to donate some of herself to help others once she was gone. She was able to donate bone marrow to help children and adults with bone cancer to prevent amputation. She was also able to donate skin tissue to help women with breast cancer.
She is survived by her husband; Stanley Hazel, two sons; Ricky Hazel and Samuel Hazel, three daughters; Susann Hazel, Gayle (Shannon) Hazel, Cassandra (Keano) Kalani, grandchildren; Joseph Ramirez-Hazel, Dominic Ramirez-Hazel, Juliana Martinez, Cecelia Henandez, Rylan Mellor, Kadyn Mellor, Haydyn Mellor, Melody Hazel, Caleb Hazel, Madylin Hazel and Reid Hazel, great-grandchildren; Jaxon McDole, Violet Hazel.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Carole (Winterbower) Westlund, brothers; Edward Lee Winterbower, Walter Jones and one sister Tyleen Winterbower-Uhlman.
Memorial are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s research Hospital, in care of Waters Funeral Home.
